Carbon takes after his sire, Avalon's Jacob Black - 19X champion black who stamps his mark on all his cria. It's no surprise that Jacob Black took the 2015 & 2016 Dark Reserve Championship at the Futurity. Jacob Black's bloodlines have been closed to the outside, so we are thrilled to have him in the Pacific Northwest. Carbon has cria on the ground now and we are excited about the 2017 show season! His micron and zipper crimp are simply amazing! See the photo and histograms for yourself! ...

Meet Estates Lustrous Graphite, a true black standout who embodies the "best of the best" in alpaca genetics. As a daughter of the renowned Irish Meadows Peruvian Carbon Copy, she carries the elite legacy of the 19X champion Avalon’s Jacob Black—a sire whose bloodlines have remained exclusive and closed to the outside for years. Graphite’s heritage is defined by the "Jacob Black stamp": incredible micron counts and that coveted "zipper crimp" that stops judges in their tracks.

On her maternal side, Graphite descends from a "match made in heaven." Her dam, Hobby Horse Evening Shadow, is a testament to resilience and excellence, carrying forward the genetic torch of the legendary Puttin’ on the Ritz. This lineage is packed with prepotent champions, including Rico’s Arctic Rendezvous, whose sire maintained a mind-blowing 16.6 micron at 10 years of age. Evening Shadow has become a cornerstone of our breeding program, consistently producing elite offspring like the 9X Champion Estates Dark Venom, the multi-Color Champion Sparta, and the Reserve Champion Negligence. Graphite represents the culmination of generations of meticulous breeding—combining the density and fineness of the Carbon Copy/Jacob Black line with the proven championship production of Evening Shadow. With her striking presence and a family tree draped in blue ribbons and banners, Estates Lustrous Graphite is a premier female destined to leave her own mark on the industry.

Lustrous Graphite is already proving her merit in the show ring, recently taking 2nd Place at the 2026 National Western Stock Show in a competitive Huacaya Black Juvenile Female class under judge Jacob Hart, notably finishing just behind the female who went on to take the Reserve Championship. Watch for her again at the 2026 TXOLAN shows.
Awards
2nd Place, 2026 TXOLAN Alpaca Spectacular: Halter, Huacaya Black Juvenile Female (Class of 7) (Judge: Jacob Hart) *First Place won Reserve Champion. Judge's comments: "As I open up her fleece, it’s a very bright fleece and very long for the time of growth. While it is very long, it was slightly broader in staple type compared to that of first place.”
2nd Place, 2026 National Western Stock Show: Halter, Huacaya Black Juvenile Female (Class of 3) (Judge: Jacob Hart) *First Place won Reserve Champion (Judge's Comments: "Very competitive class from first to third. Each one of these young females certainly has plenty of talking points. Second place was the youngest in the class and the most well-grown. She was just hesitant to walk into the ring here, so just wasn’t quite able to give me the best assessment of her gait. But with that said, it was the overall fleece attributes that keep her here in second, because she’s maintaining a long fleece that is very bright. Extremely, extremely soft overall.")
3rd Place, 2026 Golden West Alpaca Expo: Walking Fleece, Huacaya Black Juvenile (Class of 5) (Judge: Ken Hibbits) *First Place won Reserve Champion and 2nd Place was our Estates Ultimate Black Knight
3rd Place, 2026 Wild West Alpaca Show: Walking Fleece, Huacaya Black Juvenile (Class of 6) (Judge: Diana Timmerman) *First Place won Reserve Champion and 2nd Place was our Estates Ultimate Black Knight
3rd Place, 2026 Wild West Alpaca Show: Halter, Huacaya Black Juvenile Female (Class of 6) (Judge: Amanda VandenBosch)
3rd Place, 2026 TXOLAN Bluebonnet Stakes: Halter, Huacaya Black Juvenile Female (Class of 6) (Judge: Kevin O’Leary) *First Place was our Estates Sakima's Japanese Blossom Judge's comments: “This is where the environment and this humidity comes into play, because by far the finest fleece was my third place. Extremely fine, but it is just this humidity here has just destroyed what it looks like. That degree of fineness - she was at least four microns finer than anyone else in the class. This third place had great structure to the alpaca. You know, well-balanced. Great head. Good substance of bone. Extremely fine, but the fleece, just because it was so fine, just kind of fell apart due to the humidity today. Tomorrow, if we don’t have rain tonight, these placements could be totally different.”
4th Place, 2026 Golden West Alpaca Expo: Halter, Huacaya Black Juvenile Female (Class of 6) (Judge: Wade Gease)
