ROCKSTAR’s Steely Dan is the handsome and confident two-year old son of two-time Futurity Herdsire of the Year, Neversummer’s U.S. Steel. Steely is very fine and inherited his sire’s trademark silky handle. In heavy competition, he placed very well taking a blue ribbon at the 2016 Futurity as a juvenile and blue ribbon as a yearling at GWAS 2017, in an extremely tough class. He additionally has won top honors in fleece at the 2016 Gold Country Gathering winning his fleece class and 2nd place in both halter and walking fleece. Judges have praised Steely for his overall level of uniformity, brightness, soft handle, and clean blanket which has an extremely low presence of guard hair. We expect Steely will retain his fineness, brightness, and signature soft silky handle well into adulthood as evidenced by his histogram results thus far. Both his sire and his dam, Bella Noche have strong grey pedigrees behind them and both have retained fineness into adulthood as evidenced by their fleece stats - Bella Noche is maintaining her fineness after 3 pregnancies with an AFD of 20.3, SD of 4.4, and CV of 21.9. Add to all of this Steely’s stellar conformational traits in which he exhibits very nice substance of bone, a compact frame, level topline, and perfect bite. We are anxious to see what this stylish young male will be able to produce. He’s taken quite an interest in the females as he comes up on his 2nd birthday. It would be no surprise if he were to have a long and successful career as a top notch breeding male. Topping it all off is Steely’s sweet disposition! He is super easy going like his sire US Steel, is easily handled, and is a true pleasure to work with.
