Some birthdays bring a surprise worth celebrating! Estates Sakima's Birthday Surprise arrived on August 30, 2024, a particularly memorable day at Alpaca Country Estates. This lovely light brown female was born on Nancy's birthday, and her exceptionally fine, bright fleece, broad chest and beautiful head make her a gift with lasting promise!
Birthday Surprise is a daughter of 6x Black Champion Patagonia Estates Sakima, a true black herdsire whose pedigree combines distinguished Patagonia and Snowmass lines. Sakima is by Patagonia's Chilkoot, a son of Patagonia's Lennox and Patagonia's Augusta. Through Lennox, Birthday Surprise traces to Danko 532, while Augusta brings Nishio into the family tree. Sakima's dam, Estates Sentimental Journey, is by Snowmass Andean Midnight and out of EDA Peruvian Cecelia, adding Snowmass Andean Night and Snowmass Fineness Matters to this impressive paternal foundation.
Her maternal side offers a different but equally intriguing collection of bloodlines. Birthday Surprise's dam, medium fawn Neveda's Las Vegas, is a daughter of LMFI and TNT Peruvian Neveda and Emelise's Kokomo. Neveda brings Majestic Peruvian Jeremiah and My Peruvian Neala into the pedigree, while Kokomo introduces Accoyo America Tiburon and Tell Kerlee Kue. These ancestors give Birthday Surprise a diverse genetic foundation beyond her celebrated black-champion sire.
Birthday Surprise's individual fleece qualities are especially appealing: very fine fiber with beautiful brightness. Her broad chest and lovely head add to the attractive conformation observed in this young female. She is still at the beginning of her breeding career, making the combination of her own qualities and her established ancestry particularly exciting.
In October 2026, Birthday Surprise was bred to Snowmass Pure Passion, bringing another celebrated breeding line into the next generation. A cria is anticipated in 2027. This pairing offers breeders the opportunity to build on Sakima's black championship heritage while introducing Pure Passion's genetics.
From her unforgettable birthday arrival to the promise of her first cria, Estates Sakima's Birthday Surprise has a story all her own. For breeders seeking a young female with exceptionally fine, bright fleece, appealing conformation and a thoughtfully selected breeding, she is one to watch!
